Charles Gassner (1915-1977) Born in the Netherlands, studied at the Academy in The Hague and left, after a period in Berlin, for South Africa. There he was soon discovered as a talented abstract painter. Around 1950 he left for Australia and then to London, only to return to South Africa where he died in 1977.
