Dick Zwier (1915-1993) began his education at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam at the age of 18. Here he first studied free painting and then monumental art with Heinrich Campendonk. Campendonck's influence on Dick Zwier's further development has been unmistakable. Dick Zwier was inspired by the harbours of his birthplace IJmuiden, such as jetties, masts and cranes, dry docks and buildings. His work can be found in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
