Edgar Stoëbel 1909-2001. Born in Algeria, from 1931 he worked in Paris. He was a musician and painter. In 1950 he went to live in Montparnasse where he became friends with Picasso and Kees van Dongen, among others. The French filmmaker Jacques Martin made a filmed documentary about Stoëbel's life as a musician and painter in 1970.
