Gene Eggen 1921-2000 was a Limburg draftsman, painter, monumental designer, graphic artist and sculptor.
He studied at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam (1943). His fellow students included Karel Appel, Corneille, Pieter Defesche Jef Diederen and Ger Lataster. Together with the last four artists he participated in the exhibition Young painters 1950 in Heerlen, to which they owe their nickname 'Limburgse Amsterdammers'.
