Gerard Hordijk 1899-1958, studied architecture in Delft and simultaneously at the art academy in The Hague. From 1925 to 1935 he lived and worked in Paris, then in Amsterdam and New York. In 1947 he returned to Amsterdam where he died in 1958. Hordijk, painter of the cheerful life, women, circuses, theatre and ballet. In Paris neighbour of Piet Mondriaan.
