Pieter Antonie van Stuivenberg (1901-1988) was born in Schiedam and received his education from 1921 to 1927 at the Rotterdam Academy of Fine Arts. He began his sculpting career as a stonemason, first influenced by expressionism and later working more abstractly, with geometric and tighter shapes.
