Willem van Leusden 1886-1974. In his free work he developed from realistic, via abstract paintings and furniture that fit in the tradition of De Stijl, to surrealist work. Van Leusden also mastered various etching and engraving techniques. With the artists Jopie Moesman and Willem Wagenaar he formed the core of the group of surrealists who were active in Utrecht in the period 1930 to 1950. He was also a member of the graphic company De Luis.
