Ewoud de Kat (1904-1974) Born in Vlissingen, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam. Initially lived and worked in Vlissingen, then in Rotterdam and from 1935 in Haarlem. He was a painter, draftsman and watercolorist in a style reminiscent of the Flemish expressionists. In Paris he met painters from the 'Ecole de Paris' and his subjects became more abstract. In the latter days of his career he started making tapestries and collages.
