Guillaume Stassen (1923-1955) Grew up in Schin op Geul and attended primary school there. After secondary school he attended the School of Fine Arts in Heerlen, the Maastricht Art Academy and the State Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam. He also studied with Charles Eijck for several years. A head injury resulting from abuse during his employment in Germany during the war years would eventually lead to his early death. He died on 25 July 1955 in the Wilhelmina Gasthuis in Amsterdam.
