Jan van der Zee 1898-1988. From 1921 he studied at the Academie Minerva in Groningen. He became a member of the Ploeg in 1922. After the Second World War he worked in various disciplines. At the end of the forties abstract compositions appeared with bright use of colour. Colour areas were separated by heavy, black contours. He also made woodcuts in these years. His graphic work has been awarded prizes.
